 Yeduguri Sandinti Rajasekhara Reddy of the Congress became the chief minister of the state for the full five-year term of the assembly. More than anything else, Y. S. Reddy’s rule saw a significant weakening of the ultra-left radicalism of the Naxal Movement, which had gained immense vigour during the previous TDP government’s rule.
