Kurnool district MLA's list of 2009 Konijeti Rosaiah, the current governor of Tamil Nadu, was the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh from September 2009 to November 2010, before he was replaced by N. Kiran Kumar Reddy. Rosaiah is credited for his effective management of the Telangana movement in the state that had increased its strength during his tenure. Reddy is credited for having pioneered a number of welfare schemes for the poor, such as the SC/ST Sub Plan, Mee Seva, Bangaru Thallim, and the very famous Amma Hastham policy. His closest confidant, Nara Chandrababu Naidu, replaced him as the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh. Naidu has been praised by British Prime Minister Tony Blair and US President Bill Clinton, both of whom visited Hyderabad during his rule as chief minister. NTR’s popularity in the state rests on his implementation of a number of radical policies in the state, such as controlling the Naxal outgrowth in AP and bringing in a number of economic policies catering to the needs of the poor in the state. When a coup was pulled on the NTR government in August 1984, Nadendla Bhaskara Rao was made the chief minister of the state, supported by the Congress. N. Kurnool district MLA's list of 1978 From 1 October 1953 to 31 October 1956, Kurnool was also the state capital of   Andhra State   (not Andhra Pradesh), which was carved out of   Madras State   in 1953 .   Tanguturi Prakasam   was the chief minister of   Andhra State   during this period. The present day District court buildings were used by the State   Marri Chenna Reddy of the Congress who ruled from 1978 to 1980, was replaced by Tanguturi Anjaiah who remained in office till February 1982. He was later substituted by Bhavanam Venkatarami Reddy and subsequently by K.V. Bhaskara Reddy, both of whom ruled for short interim periods.
